RANGELEY – Virginia “Ginny” Nuttall has been named the Rangeley Lakes Regional School’s interim principal.
She was chosen from six applicants for the short-term position available after the resignation of Sue Foltz earlier this month.
“I know the kids, the parents, the teachers, the school and the community,” she said.
Nuttall was formerly the gifted-and-talented teacher at Rangeley Lakes Regional School before accepting a position in Topsham, from which she retired at the end of the last school year. Nuttall has maintained her permanent home in Rangeley for 30 years.
According to Superintendent Ken Coville, “We finalized the decision Monday, and she was able to begin the transition process immediately.”
Nuttall has a “good knowledge of the school’s operational procedures,” said Coville.
Foltz and Nuttall have already begun planning for the transition, which will occur on Sept. 4 and 5. Nuttall will serve as the short-term interim principal starting on Sept. 8 and will be at the school until a permanent principal is selected.
Coville said of the general timeline, “I anticipate that Nuttall will serve as interim principal until the end of October or mid-November.”
Nuttall has been a member of the Rangeley community and spent 18 years teaching at Rangeley Lakes Regional School. She holds a principal certification and more than 25 years of teaching and administrative experience.
“I like the school, and I am excited to go back,” Nuttall said. “I will be able to provide continuity in this situation, and I have strong background in curriculum and classroom instruction.”
