QUINCY, Mass. (AP) – A 66-year-old woman was hit and killed by an MBTA bus on Monday, MBTA officials said.

The accident happened at the corner of Sea Street and Bayview Drive around 3 p.m., said Lydia Rivera, a spokeswoman for the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority. The Route 216 bus originated from Quincy Center, Rivera said.

The woman, identified as Graznia Vaitkus, was taken to Quincy Medical Center where she died of her injuries, Rivera said.

The bus driver’s name was not released, and the driver remains on the job pending an investigation, Rivera said.
