AUBURN – Edith Jones Project will play modern big band jazz made famous by Dizzy Gillespie, Dave Brubeck, the Count Basie Orchestra and others at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29, at Festival Plaza.
“If you like jazz, if you like big band music, if you have a pulse, you will love the Edith Jones Project. The music is familiar to everyone,” said Laurie Smith, Auburn’s community relations manager.
Members of the band include some of the most talented performing and teaching musicians in Maine, including faculty from Bates College, the University of Southern Maine, the University of New Hampshire, Bowdoin and public schools throughout southern Maine.
All Festival Friday concerts are free to the public, as well as the Saturday Night At The Movies. This Saturday night movie will be “Star Wars – Episode V, The Empire Strikes Back,” starring Harrison Ford, Mark Hammill, Carrie Fisher and Alec Guinness. The movie will begin at dusk.
