BETHEL – Bethel Historical Society Assistant Director and Curator of Collections Randall H. Bennett has added another book to the list of publications of which he has been involved as editor, author and/or publisher.
His latest work, “The White Mountains: Alps of New England,” was recently released by Arcadia Books in their Making of America Series. This 160-page, well-illustrated volume discusses this special New England locale, which boasts the highest peaks in the Northeast and some of the world’s worst weather.
Bennett, a native of Rumford, is a graduate of Rumford High School and the University of Maine at Farmington. He also did additional graduate work at the University of Southern Maine. A former interpreter at the Norlands in Livermore, he has been associated in one role or another with the Bethel Historical Society since the late 1970s. He became curator of collections in 1985 and assistant director in 1999.
In recognition of his many publications in the field of regional history, he was awarded a certificate of commendation from the American Association for State and Local History in 1987.
Bennett’s latest book is available at the society’s Museum Shop, which is open from 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. It is also open until Labor Day from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
