Dear Sun Spots: St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center has openings for emergency entrance concierge and gift shop volunteers.

Patients needing assistance upon arrival and departure via the hospital’s emergency entrance benefit from the one-on-one care from volunteers. So much so that more volunteers are needed. Volunteer concierge services include greeting and meeting patients upon arrival, providing wheelchair and information assistance and parking a patient’s vehicle when necessary. This service is offered to patients Monday-Friday. We need both men and women volunteers for the afternoon, 12-4 p.m. shifts. Qualifications include a sincere desire to help others, and a valid driver’s license.

St. Mary’s Gift Shop is also seeking volunteers for morning, afternoon and evening shifts to provide cashier services. While no retail experience is necessary, volunteers should enjoy working with the public and appreciate and understand good customer service.

Training for all volunteer services is readily available. Benefits include meal privileges, recognition events, health program, gift shop discounts and educational programs. Those interested in knowing more about these volunteer opportunities and others should contact Joyce Paradis, Director of Sisters of Charity Health System Volunteer Services at (207) 777-8369. – Joyce Paradis, Lewiston.
