AUBURN – The Corporate and Community Services Department at Central Maine Community College will offer low pressure boiler and propane/natural gas technician training classes at its Auburn campus beginning in September.

Low Pressure Boiler (ENT 005-21) will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays from Sept. 9 to Nov. 4. Students will learn the techniques to operate and maintain a steam generating plant in a safe and efficient manner.

The course is designed to prepare the student for the low pressure boiler operator licensing exam. The cost is $360 and includes the books. Douglas Lothrop, who holds a first class engineer’s license and a natural gas and propane technician’s license, will teach the course.

Propane/Natural Gas Technician Certification (CETP) courses will begin Sept. 16. Basic Principles and Practices (CTP 001-21) will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday from Sept. 16 to 23. It is a prerequisite course for all CETP classes.

Appliance Installation (CTP 002-21), Distribution System Operations (CTP 004-21) and Appliance Service (CTP 005-21) classes will also be offered beginning in September. Call Central Maine Community College at 755-5280 for dates and times.

Each course is $380 and includes the state licensing exam, which will be administered during the last class and the cost of the books. Classes will be taught by Anthony Leclair, who is licensed by the Maine Propane and Natural Gas Board.
