NORWAY – There will be a Coffeehouse Open Mic night Friday, Aug. 29, at the Unitarian Universalist Church on Main Street. Sign up for performers will begin at 6:30 p.m. with open mic at 7. Those attending are encouraged to bring acoustic musical instruments, songs, poetry and short stories to share. Suggested donation is $3. Extension to meet

FRYEBURG – Members of the Fryeburg Homemakers Extension will meet at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, at the Legion Hall on Bradley Street. Glenna Tibbetts of North Conway, N.H., will present a program on her trip to Australia. There will be a potluck luncheon served by Kathleen Anthony and Evelyn Murphy. New members and guests are welcome.

Outdoor hike

BETHEL – The Mahoosuc Land Trust and the Bethel Outing Club invite the adults and children to join them for the third annual Outdoor Appreciation Hike from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 6, with an onsite naturalist, at the Wright Trail on Goose Eye Brook (Riley Township off of the Sunday River Road). Participants can hike part of a 1.5 mile stretch along Goose Eye Brook.

Meet at either the Brew Pub parking lot at 8 a.m. or at the trail head at 8:45 a.m. Bring children, guests, lunch, picnic at trailhead, day pack, water and jacket. For more information, call Betsey or Mike Cooper (836-3808) or Tom DeLucca (364-4080).
