I am writing this letter to let it be known how much Joyce White’s reporting for the Sun Journal has meant to me as someone in the Oxford community who believes not enough stories are written in the mainstream press that concern themselves with people like Mary Callahan, who has taken on the Foster Care Department of the Department of Human Services by writing her book “Memoirs of a Baby Stealer.”
White has written several stories about the Public Interest Forum, which consists of a small group of people dedicated to informing local people about different approaches and opinions regarding the potential violation of civil liberties, corporate and government corruption, economic and social injustice and how it is made manifest both globally and locally.
I feel more inclined to stay with non-violent political efforts to make a difference when Joyce White writes stories about such subjects as the street theater effort of PIF to inform the public about The Patriot Act and its implications, about the panel book discussion on Michael Moore’s book, “Stupid White Men,” and about the Friendshipment to Cuba. These stories are not told on any consistent basis in the mainstream media.
By supporting Joyce White’s reporting, I suggest that the Sun Journal is doing a good job of keeping the free press, democratic government and the spirit of us who are poor and non-violent dissenters alive and well.
