EAST DIXFIELD – Countryfolk Music Theatre will have its final summer Country Sunday jam session this weekend, rain or shine. Country music will be played from noon to 6 p.m. and a potluck meal is planned.

Those attending are asked to bring their favorite dish, chair, beverage, family and friends. The event is free for everyone. There will be a 50/50 drawing, guitar and afghan drawing.

Transfer station to be closed Monday

JAY – The Jay Recycling Facility and Transfer Station will be closed on Monday, Sept. 1, in observance of Labor Day.

Monday’s trash collection will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 2. Monday’s recyclable collection will be postponed until the following Monday.

The Recycling Facility and Transfer Station will be open on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday of the Labor Day week.

Blacksmiths

to meet Tuesday

WILTON – The Western Maine Blacksmith’s Association will have its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, at the Wilton Historical Society.

At the end of the meeting, the group will adjourn to the Forge Room for demonstrations and work. Visitors are welcome.

FARMINGTON – The first meeting of Farmington Emblem Club No. 460 for the fall will be held Thursday, Sept. 4. The club will hold a potluck dinner at 6 p.m. to honor this year’s Citizen of the Year with the meeting to follow.

Reading circle

FARMINGTON – The Franklin County Children’s Task Force, as part of its’ Bullying/Teasing Prevention Program, will offer a parent reading circle to discuss relational aggression.

The parent Reading Circle will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays for 12 weeks beginning Sept. 17 at the Franklin County Children’s Task Force. Relational aggression is defined as behavior that is intended to hurt someone by harming their relationship with others.

The reading circle will focus its’ discussions of relational aggression around recent books and a video, however, participants will also actively be involved in hands-on activities.

Parents are encouraged to bring their sons and daughters to make them part of the process of recognizing and addressing this unique form of bullying.
