LEWISTON – Two memoir writing groups seek new members as they start their fall workshop schedules. Turning Memories Into Memories Lifewriting workshops, led by Denis Ledoux, will offer classes for beginners’ and advanced groups.

People who have written little or nothing can learn the basics of recording personal and family stories in a beginners’ workshop starting Sept. 15. Those who have already written portions of their stories may participate in a Continuing Turning Memories workshop starting Sept. 9. They will join a group that has been meeting and writing for 10 years.

Both groups will meet at the Lewiston Public Library, Lisbon Street. The beginners’ group will meet from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. every other Monday for five sessions. The continuing group will meet from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. for 10 sessions every other Tuesday.

The workshop will include exercises, discussions, readings of model autobiographies and explorations of the deeper meaning of stories and of people’s lives. Participants will write, or rewrite, approximately one story a week.

Tuition is $125 for the beginners and $250 for the advanced group. To enroll or for more information, visit www.turningmemories.com or write Soleil Lifestory Network, 95 Gould Road 106, Lisbon Falls, ME, or call 353-5454.
