WILTON – The eighth reunion of the descendants of Alton and Ethel (York) Adams was held July 25 through 27 at Lucille Stevens camp at Pease Pond in East Wilton. Forty to fifty people attended all or part of the three-day event.

Activities included boating, swimming, looking at past reunion albums and games. All activities were organized by Candy, Christina, Cassie, Kathleen, Courtney and Ashley Goodwin. A breakfast was held Saturday morning prepared by Corey Black, Butch and Billy Adams.

Prizes awarded were presented to: oldest, Vera Corey; youngest, Dawson Black; traveling the furthest, Lucille Stevens from Island Pond, Vt.; having the highest percentage of children and grandchildren present, Methel Goodwin.

A potluck supper and business meeting was held Saturday evening. Candy Goodwin shared a sample copy of a family cookbook she is compiling.

The statistical report given by the secretary was: five births, three marriages and no deaths. There are now 117 direct descendants, 154 including spouses, and 11 direct descendant deaths.

It was voted to move the future reunion dates to the third weekend of August. Next year’s reunion will be Aug. 20 through 22 at the same location and times with a potluck supper and business meeting Saturday at 5 p.m.

Seamon reunion

FREEPORT – The descendants of Twining Joshua Seamon and Nettie Mae Gross Seamon held their first reunion on Aug. 2. Ninety-one members gathered under a tent at the home of granddaughter Tina and Chris Whalen and their daughter Anna Thea.

After a potluck and lobster bake dinner with home-made ice cream for dessert, the afternoon was spent reminiscing about childhood days and what life was like growing up on the Seamon family farm in East Jay. Attendees came from as far away as Texas and Florida, and many from Michigan and Connecticut besides those from various towns in Maine.

Jamison-Wood

MEXICO – The third bi-annual Jamison-Wood reunion was held at the home of Wayne Jamison recently. There were 85 in attendance. Rodney Jamison presented Wayne and Melea Jamison with plaques for helping with the reunions.

Donated prizes went to the following: Darlene and Tami Jamison, Amanda Lemay, Donna, Grace and Alan Jamison, Vickie Jodrey, Theresa Lemay, Wayne Oakes, Pauline Jamison, Erica Jamison, Pooche Tou-chette, Karen Touchette, Matthew and Michael Dyke.

Hiltz gathering

EAST DIXFIELD – Descendants of George and Maude Hiltz held their annual family reunion on Aug. 2, on the property of Nelson and Bevelry Coolidge. More than 70 people attended. Wenda McBean Holman from Texas traveled the farthest. A potluck lunch and auction was held and enjoyed. Items were brought to be auctioned off. The reunion is always held on the first Saturday in August and will be held in East Dixfield Aug. 7, 2004.

Jones family

MONTVILLE – The Jones family reunion, descendants of John and Mary Rand Jones, met recently with Edna (Jones) and Elmin Mitchell in Montville.

Three new attendees came representing the Sara Jones Furbush descendants. The Charles Jones line had eight and John A. Jones had seven present with each line having newcomers attending.

The youngest present was a grandson of the hosts, Jesse Stacey. The oldest was Andrew Pratt, the president.

All admired the show wagon which Elmin Mitchell has assembled and has nearly completed. Genealogy was gathered for Sara’s family.

Resolutions for Doris S. Jones were given. The secretary’s report was accepted as corrected. Also read for interest were reports of 1978 and 1953. A family letter written in 1848 was read giving the family members and health. A bereavement poem by Mrs. A. Furbush written for her mother-in-law’s services were also read.

Next year’s meeting will be at the same place with the same officers: president, Andrew Pratt, Strong; vice president, Margie Brackett of Kittery; secretary/treasurer, Floriece Kennedy of Farmington; resolutions committee, Colleen Reed of Westbrook and Edna Mitchell of Montville. The next reunion will be Aug. 15, 2004.

Other family members attended from Bridgton, Weeks Mills, Freedom, South China, Vienna and Orono.
