SUMNER – Rhea Kennelly and 10 other residents launched the town Comprehensive Plan revision at a meeting Wednesday. She presented a timeline for meetings, questionnaires and discussions with townspeople.

The last revision of the town growth plan was in 1989.

The committee reviewed the plan and highlighted areas it thought needed changes. They discussed adding new components where guidelines were missing.

A Comprehensive Plan identifies what future community characteristics are desired and sets forth a work program so those characteristics may be worked toward or obtained. The areas that need addressing are natural resources, land use and economy, municipal services and how residents view the future of their community.

The next meeting is at 7 p.m. Sept. 17 when John Maloney of the Androscoggin Valley Council of Governments will be present to answer questions.
