AUBURN – The Corporate and Community Services Department at Central Maine Community College will offer teambuilding workshops designed to improve employee morale, increase team synergy and enhance customer service.

Vacation in the Keys (CCS 001-01) will be held from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Sept. 10. The teambuilding simulation takes work teams on a “Vacation in the Keys” until catastrophe strikes, leaving the group on a deserted island with only a dozen items for survival.

Team members determine the best use of the items through problem-solving and consensus. Companies are encouraged to send department managers or supervisors and work teams.

The cost is $195 for up to five people, $50 each additional person. “Vacation in the Keys” will be presented by Filomena Day, president of Better Day Ventures. Day offers coaching and training programs on change and time management, teambuilding, assertiveness and interpersonal communication. She is a graduate of CoachU and is president of Coaches Alliance of Maine.

Fish! Philosophy (CCS 070-01) will be held from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Sept. 17 at the Auburn campus and from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Nov. 4 at the Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School in South Paris (CCS 071-1X).

The class uses an engaging metaphor as a model to improve employee retention, create internal and external customer service and prevent stress and burnout. The cost is $40 a person and includes the book.

The workshop will be presented by Roberta Metivier and Elizabeth Bennoch, human resources professionals who have incorporated the Fish! Philosophy into their workplace.
