OXFORD – The 2003 Oxford Fair grand parade theme is Farm Days to signify the importance of farm life and its many challenges. It will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, on the new harness racetrack. Lineup is at 9 a.m. at the staging area at the second gate. Participants are asked to use the racetrack entrance. Participants may choose how they would like to exhibit their version of farm life with animals, farm equipment, farm era clothing, tractors or trucks, horse-drawn carriages, antique vehicles, or other. Any organization is welcome , but will need to submit their name, address and phone number to receive an information form. For more information call Dennis at 743-7930 or Marcia at 743-5528. Forms are helpful for parade exhibit lineup, but participants may enter without the form and calling is not necessary.

Benefit supper

PARIS – A benefit supper for Jim Record will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, at the First Baptist Church of Paris at the top of Paris Hill. Adults $5, children $3. Jim fell from a haymow breaking four ribs and puncturing his lung.

Yard sale

NORWAY – The Progress Center will hold a yard sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, at the center on Cottage Street. Proceeds will benefit the Consumer Activity Fund. For more information phone 743-8049.

Agriculture Ed

OXFORD – The Oxford County Soil and Water Conservation District has announced it will hold an Agriculture Education Day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, at the Oxford County Fairgrounds. This event is free to any school in Oxford County and involves presentations where students can learn about natural resources. There will be many activities relating to local history, agriculture, animal and plant growth, and more. Students will join scavenger hunts and other activities.
