The club recently had a changing of the guard with a new slate of officers installed at their annual meeting in June. A luncheon was held at The Granary Restaurant.
Norine Veal, outgoing president, presented bouquets of flowers to the new slate of officers. Elizabeth Cushman is now president with Agnes Brooks serving as vice president. The job of secretary went to Beverly Oliver and Marion Hutchinson is the new treasurer.
Veal has moved up to be elected on the state level as Kennebec District director.
The garden club has been responsible for planting and maintaining several beautification projects in and around Farmington with the latest being the memorial garden at the triangle junction of Routes 2 and 4 at the lights near the Intervale. This was project done in response to the 9/11 attacks. With help from the Department of Transportation crew and the Farmington Fire Department, a flagpole was recently erected above the center of the colorful garden.
