LISBON FALLS – Lisbon Adult Education announces its fall course offerings. Registration will begin Monday, Sept 8, and classes will begin on or after Sept. 15.
A full range of computer and vocational courses is available. Computers for Complete Beginners is recommended for those with no computer experience. Introductory courses are offered in components of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Powerpoint. Other courses include Keyboarding and Quickbooks Pro 2000.
New offerings include Basic Web Page Design and Intermediate Word. Two certificate programs are available: a certificate in Computer Technology and a certificate in Word Processing.

Other vocational and business courses include Medical Terminology I, which will meet for seven weeks. It is part one of a two-part course. Medical Terminology II will be offered in the spring. The course is designed to meet the needs of individuals who work or who are seeking positions in the health care field.
A 15-week Principles of Accounting I course will be offered with the potential of earning college credit through Central Maine Community College. Individuals who are interested in substitute teaching are encouraged to enroll in a six-week substitute teaching class. Tours of area schools and classroom strategies will be included in the class.
A Certified Nursing Assistant class will start on Sept. 23. The class will meet from 6 to 9 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays and from 3 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays. Call 353-3037 for application information. Red Cross recertification courses will be offered for first aid and adult, infant and child CPR. Courses may be taken individually or together for a reduced fee.
Enrichment courses will include Beginning Spanish, Conversational French, Beginning and Continuing Sign Language, and Creative Writing. A Red Cross baby-sitting class will be held for students ages 11 to 14.
A 10-week course in Common Household Repairs will include basic hand tool operations and such topics as sheet rock, plumbing and electrical repairs. There will be opportunity for questions in the hands-on course. Safety courses will include hunter, ATV and boating safety and driving dynamics. In late fall boating and wood stove safety and recycling update classes will be scheduled.
Fitness courses will include aerobics, which will meet on Monday and Thursday evenings. Beginning Yoga and Continuing Yoga will meet on Tuesday evenings. Expanded arts and crafts offerings include a drawing class and a photography class. Through a collaboration with Mad Cat Crafts in Lisbon Falls classes will be offered in Creative Card Making, Scrapbooking, Paper Quilling, Embroidery on Cardstock, Rubber Stamping and Tea Bag Folding. A variety of cooking and craft courses are also planned for the holiday season.
Academic courses will start on Sept. 15. The following courses will provide high school diploma credit and are available for the fall semester: Algebra I, Biology with Lab, Chemistry with Lab and American Literature. An application has been made to Central Maine Community College to offer Algebra I for college credit. Information will be provided to students at the start of the class.
College prep courses are designed for adults who are planning to attend college and wish to prepare for college placement exams or who would like to enhance skills for employment. Math refresher will review basic math, including fractions, decimals, percents and order of operations and ratios. English refreshers will includes a review of writing basics, including grammar, sentence structure, style, report writing and vocabulary.
GED testing will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Mondays and 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays. A GED preparation class will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays.
