Families will celebrate the harvest season with day of games, entertainment.
LEWISTON – To celebrate the changing season, St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center and Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice are organizing the 2003 Children’s Harvest Festival. The day of games, entertainment and children’s activities will be held on Saturday, Sept. 27, at Wallingford’s Fruit House in Auburn. The all-day event will start at 10 a.m. and wrap up at 3 p.m.
Activities will include horse rides, face painting, musical entertainment, children’s crafts and activity stations, balloon magic, clowns, prizes and hay rides. The cost is $8 a child and free for adults and children under age 2, with proceeds to benefit the Grieving Children and Teens Program.
The Program for Grieving Children and Teens is a support system for children and teenagers ages 3 to 18 who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling, relative or friend. The program works together with children, parents, relatives and the professional care-giving community.
Through weekly group meetings, the program provides a trusting environment where feelings about the loss of a loved one may be expressed and shared with others in similar circumstances. Activities such as drawing, writing, art, music and discussion help children communicate their feelings.
Those wishing can pack a picnic lunch or visit the lunch and snack concessions. Wallingford’s Fruit House is located on the Perkins Ridge Road. For more information, call 777-8863.
