WASHINGTON – Staff members of U.S. Sen. Olympia J. Snowe, R-Maine, along with the U.S. Small Business Administration will host a public forum from 8:45 a.m. to noon on Thursday, Sept. 11, in the north dining hall of the Olsen Student Center at the University of Maine at Farmington.

Snowe, who is chairwoman of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, encourages the public to actively converse with her state staff and SBA Regional Administrator Jeff Butland, who will preside over the forum.

“The depth of knowledge Mr. Butland possesses about state and federal programs available to assist small business owners and entrepreneurs will prove invaluable to those who readily take advantage of this great opportunity,” Snowe said.

“I urge all individuals who have considered owning their own business and those who are business owners to attend the informational forums, to engage Mr. Butland and the full panel of service providers with all of your questions, and to make state and federal resources benefit you, present and future.”

The small business forums will inform business owners and entrepreneurs of how to access financial and instructional assistance through programs offered by the SBA and other local, state and federal organizations. Along with Butland and members of Snowe’s staff, state agency representatives and local business leaders will participate in the forum.

The forum is free of charge and open to the public.
