1913 – 2003
AUBURN – Etta Thorne, 89, a resident of 112 North Auburn Road, West Auburn died unexpectedly Monday night, Sept. 8, at her residence.
She was born in Auburn, Dec. 11, 1913, the daughter of LeRoy and Ina E. (Holbrook) Thorne.
She attended Auburn schools and was a 1932 graduate of Edward Little High School. She owned and operated the former West Auburn Dairy Farm with her sister, Ena for most of their lives.
She loved to mow her property with her tractor right up until the time of her death. She also loved gardening especially giving what was grown to friends and neighbors. She was one to have a cheerful smile and was well known for her knitting and crocheting that she also gave away to friends.
Survivors include several cousins; also special friends and neighbors who she remained close to, and with whom she shared a large part of her life.
She was predeceased by her sister, Ena with whom she resided all her life who died May 21, 2000; and by one brother, John.
