DIXFIELD – There will be a meeting of Swasey-Torrey Post 100, American Legion, and Auxiliary beginning at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 14, with a cookout consisting of hot dogs and hamburgers furnished by the post. Auxiliary members are asked to bring salads or desserts. Regular meeting will start at 6 p.m.

Senior citizens

DIXFIELD – Neighborly Senior Citizens met Aug. 20 with 68 present. The meeting was called to order by President Connie Tutlis. Door prizes were won by Bob Beams and Kay Barker. Observing an August anniversary were Larry and Edna Kerr. Having August birthdays were Paula MacDonald, Nila Martineau and Lawrence Whitehouse. An invitation was received to attend a 50th wedding anniversary celebration for Bob and Marge Harlow. Entertainment was provided by the Arsenault Family Band.

The next meeting will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday Sept. 17, at the Legion Hall with the meeting followed by a potluck dinner and entertainment by Silver and Gold. Payment is due for both the Balsams trip on Sept. 23rd and the Foxwood-Mohegan Sun trip scheduled for Oct. 16th and 17th. There is space available on both trips. For more information, call Connie at 364-4189. Membership in the Neighborly Seniors is open to anyone age 50 and over.

Bridge winners

RUMFORD – Winners at the Rumford Duplicate Bridge Club on Sept. 4 were: first, Anna Cormier and Woody Mercier, second, Debbie Stuart and Donna Swett and third, Jean and Stan Stoman.

Bowling results

RUMFORD – The Sunday Wonders Bowling League started the season off on Sept. 7. Karen Fitzherbert had a high single of 115 and high triple of 322, and Rosanna Young won the special.
