1921 – 2003

LEWISTON – Quido “Rick” DiPompo, 82, a resident of Keith Street on Brettuns Pond in Livermore, died Tuesday, Sept. 9, at St. Mary’s Hospital where he had been a patient for eight days. He had been a resident of Russell Park Manor for seven years.

He was born on May 8, 1921, in Riley, the son of Rocco and Giovovannina Fusco DiPompo and attended the schools of Jay. “Rick” was very well-known in the Lewiston-Auburn and Rumford area as a restauranteur, having owned and operated The Silvertone Restaurant and Riverside Diner and Lounge in Mexico and Rumford; The Casablanca Restaurant in Mexico; The Village Inn and Jimmy’s Restaurants of Auburn and Lewiston. He also ran a used car dealership in Livermore Falls and Northeast Motors in Auburn. He enjoyed the auctions at the Dixfield Opera House.

He had also worked as a supervisor at the General Motors plant in Detroit, Mich. He invented the first lighted car ashtray. He was always thinking of ideas to make life easier.

He will also be remembered as a person who was always willing to help a friend or share whatever he had. He always enjoyed the company of his teacup poodle, Katie.

He is survived by his companion of 27 years, Connie Bryant of Livermore; three sisters and their husbands, Rosine and Bill Dolinski of Palatka, Fla., Angie and Arthur Holman of Jay and Rita Hewett of Wilton; a brother, Bobby DiPompo and his wife Glenda of Jay; sister-in-law, Christina DiPompo of Brewer; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by three brothers, John, Tony and Dr. Louis DiPompo; a sister-in-law, DiDi DiPompo; and his stepmother, Margaret DiPompo.
