LEWISTON – Lewiston Adult Education, in collaboration with the Androscoggin County Chamber of Commerce, will continue its series, “Lewiston-Auburn: Hidden Treasures,” this fall. The series will give an appreciation of the variety of historical, cultural and recreational opportunities available in Lewiston.

Explore Your Own Back Yard” will be offered from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16, at the Chamber of Commerce, 179 Lisbon St. Maureen Aube, a Chamber staff member, will be the guide as participants discover a variety of untapped tourist attractions, festivals and cultural events for the family in the neighborhood. Lab fee $5.

Bates Mill Tour” will be offered from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, at the Bates Mill office, 35 Canal St. The mill, originally built as a cotton mill but later famous for its bedspreads, is one of Lewiston’s most important landmarks. With Allan Turgeon, participants will tour some of the older undeveloped space as well as the newer developed space. Lab fee $5.

Little Canada” will be the topic from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, at the Franco American Heritage Center, 88 Oxford St. In 1860, French Canadians began settling in Lewiston in an area known to this day as Little Canada. Rita Dube will lead a tour of the Franco American Heritage Center and share stories of French Canadian ancestors. Lab fee $5.
