1929 – 2003

LEWISTON – Gayton J. Therrien, 74, of 385 Pond Road, died Wednesday, Sept. 10, at Ste. Marguerite d’Youville Pavilion after a short illness.

He was born in Daaquam, P.Q., Canada, April 19, 1929, the son of Joseph and Eugenie Turgeon Therrien. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict and was married Oct. 3, 1953 to Laurette Pomerleau who predeceased him April 23, 1993.

Prior to his retirement he owned and operated Better Homes Drywall for 37 years. He was a member of Holy Family Parish, Eagles Club and the American Legion Post 22. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed playing cards and socializing with his friends.

He is survived by four sons, Robert Therrien and his companion Marion Goldrup of Greene, James Therrien and his wife Darlene of Lewiston, Marc Therrien and his wife Lisa of Winthrop and Scott Therrien and his wife Joline of Lewiston; 10 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; six sisters, Roseanna Pigeon of Quebec, Marie Claire Poirier and husband Gulion of Quebec, Lorraine Bell and husband Bennedict of Lewiston, Therese Lacasse of Quebec, Josette Croteau and husband Ivan of St. Juste, Quebec, Mariette Poulin and husband JeanPaul of Auburn; two brothers, Alfred Bisson and wife Julliette of Lewiston and George Therrien and his wife Agath of St. George, Quebec.

He was predeceased by a son, Daniel Therrien Nov. 17, 1978.
