LEWISTON – Marion T. Murphy, 84, a longtime resident of Lewiston, died peacefully on Saturday, Sept. 13, at Montello Manor, following an illness.

She was the widow of Raymond J. Murphy, a Lewiston police officer for nearly 40 years, who preceded her in death in 1986.

Formerly Marion McIntire, she was a graduate of Lewiston High School and later attended business school. She was a longtime active parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church.

Marion had a passion for birds and enjoyed her many birdfeeders over the years.

She loved children and enjoyed dining out, music, day trips, and reading the newspaper, among many other interests. She will be remembered by her family and friends for her warmth, generosity, sense of humor, and sharp mind.

She is survived by her eight children, Patricia (and Robert) Hannon of Sandwich, Mass.; Gregory (and Donna) Murphy of Londonderry, N.H.; Richard (and Lois) Murphy of Anaheim Hills, Calif.; Elaine Scott of Louisville, Ky.; Martin (and Julia) Murphy of Davie, Fla.; Raymond (and Mary) Murphy of Bedford, N.H.; Michael (and Shelly) Murphy of Tustin, Calif.; and Mary Murphy (and Joseph Conroy) of Woolwich; and 15 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
