Scout registration

LEWISTON – Cub Scout Pack 116 will hold its annual Registration Night at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16, in fellowship hall at Holy Cross Church on Lisbon Street. Grange to install

WINTHROP – Winthrop Grange 209 will hold an open meeting for installation of officers at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16, at the Grange Hall on Old Lewiston Road.

Pat Brewer of Jefferson, Maine State Grange steward, and his installing suite will perform the ceremony. Refreshments will be served by Gloria Sylvester. The hall is handicapped accessible.

Chemistry course

TURNER – SAD 52 Adult and Community Education will offer chemistry with lab from 6 to 9 p.m. beginning Wednesday, Sept. 17, at Leavitt Area High School. The 15-week course will be taught by Duane Leavitt.

Basic concepts and some mathematical approaches will be covered. Students will need to supply a calculator. To register visit the office at 486 Turner Center Road or send in the form from the fall catalogue.

Rotary speaker

LEWISTON – The speaker at the Thursday, Sept. 18, noon meeting of the Lewiston-Auburn Rotary Club at the Ramada Inn will be Ismail Ahmed, who will talk about his observations on his recent return trip to Africa.

Course for dads

LEWISTON – Advocates for Children will offer a 13-week Nurturing Father’s Program beginning Thursday, Sept. 25, to help men become the best dads they can be. Participants will learn about fathering from A to Z and will discuss ideas about fathering with other men. The course is free and will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at Advocates for Children, 157 Main St.
