LEWISTON – The Central Maine Medical Center will team with the American Red Cross for a blood drive from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19, in CMMC conference rooms A, B and C. All donors are asked to bring a government-issued picture ID or their Red Cross blood donor card.
Blood donated with the American Red Cross is used in hospitals within the state for patients throughout New England and, in times of disaster or immediate need, wherever the need exists. The Red Cross provides nearly half the blood needs in the United States and can quickly move blood around the country in emergency situations.
Blood can come only from volunteer donors and has a short shelf life of 42 days; therefore, the Red Cross needs a steady flow of donors to continuously replenish the supply.
To schedule an appointment or for more information, call Sue Bowie at CMMC (795-2472) or Tom Miller at the Red Cross (1-800-482-0743).
