LEWISTON – The University of Maine at Augusta, Lewiston-Auburn, located at Lewiston-Auburn College, will offer workshops this fall on such topics as effective learning and memory, time management, studying math and reducing the stress of taking tests.

Students said the workshops have helped them be successful in their college experiences. Most workshops are free, all are open to students as well as members of the community. Call Joyce in the UMA Office at 753-6600 to register. Registration is recommended but walk-ins are always welcome.

“Achieving Success in Social Science Courses”: Tuesday, Sept. 16, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. in Room 106.

“Effective Learning and Memory”: Wednesday Sept. 17, from 9 a.m. to noon and Thursday, Sept. 18, from 1 to 3 p.m. in Room 107.

“Forming and Getting the Most from a Study Group”: Tuesday, Oct. 7, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. and Thursday, Oct. 9, from 10 to 11:30 a.m., Room 107.

“Preparing for Statistics”: Monday, Dec. 1, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and Thursday, Dec. 4, from 1 to 2:30 p.m., Room 107.

“Reducing the Stress of Taking Tests”: Tuesday, Dec. 2, from 9 to 10:30 a.m., Room 106.

“So Much To Do, So Little Time”: Monday, Sept. 22, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. and Friday, Oct. 3, from 1 to 2:30 p.m., Room 107.

“Solving Math Word Problems”: Wednesday, Sept. 24, from 1 to 3 p.m. and Friday, Sept. 26, from 10 a.m. to noon, Room 107.

“Putting Your Personality to Work (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator)”: Tuesday, Sept. 23, from 10 a.m. to noon, Room 106, and Monday, Oct. 20, from 5 to 7 p.m., Room 107. Register and take the inventory at least a week prior to the workshop. Inventory fee: $7, LAC students; $20, community members; add $2 for home mailing.

“Where To Go, What To Do Harrington-O’Shea Making System”: Tuesday, Sept. 30, from 10 a.m. to noon, Room 106, and Monday, Oct. 27, from 5 to 7 p.m., Room 107. Inventory fee: LAC students, $7; community members, $20.

Women, Work and Community Staff will offer free workshops this fall at Lewiston-Auburn College.

“Financing Your Future: Managing Your Money to Meet your Goals”: Nov. 25 to Dec. 2.

“Advancing Women’s Voices: Creating Awareness about the Issues that Affect Our Lives Everyday”: Wednesday, Oct. 9, at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.

“Assertiveness Training”: Oct. 20 to Dec. 8.
