The people of Maine are very aware of the continued debate about the proposed resort casino that the Passamaquoddy and Penobscot tribes want to construct in the Sanford region.

We were told that the people of Maine would receive accurate information regarding this process so we could make an informed decision. When Janet Mills appeared in a television commercial for Casinos No!, not only was she representing a personal point of view, but a united voice of the judicial services in southern Maine, residents of Maine should have at least expected the whole truth, not partial truths.

What is upsetting is that residents should not expect misinformation or half truths from our state prosecutors and other highly influential people. Rather, they should accurately relay any laws and regulations, leaving the final decision to the people of Maine. Again, Ms. Mills and the organization she represents are held to a superior standard.

I believe that Maine residents are capable of making a well informed and accurate decision. Since WCSH-6 has decided not to air Ms. Mills commercial and WGME-13 reviewed a segment, explaining its controversy and how it was not exactly true before airing the commercial is very demeaning toward the residents of Maine.

Personally, I would have expected more from our district attorney. Whatever happened to “the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help you God?” Ms. Mills have you forgotten?
