Melissa Nguyn punches in a pair of goals for Winthrop.

WINTHROP – Melissa Nguyn notched an early pair of goals to drive Winthrop to a 5-0 win over Carrabec in MVC girls’ soccer action Tuesday.

The Ramblers (4-0) tallied a dizzying 34 shots and forced Ashley Vikours to make 20 saves for the Cobras (1-3).

All five Rambler goals were unassisted.

Winthrop goalie Katie Brooks earned her third shutout of the season.

Richmond 3, Rangeley 2

RANGELEY- Christina Bard headed in the winning goal off a corner kick, lifting Richmond to a 3-2 win over Rangeley in girls’ soccer Tuesday afternoon.

Richmond’s Katie Cray and Haley Brown each had a goal.

Rangeley’s Amber Schinas and Haily Brown each had a goal while their goalkeeper Heather Martin fended off 15 shots.

Waterville 6, Mt. Blue 2

WATERVILLE- Megan Willette scored five goals for the Purple Panthers as they defeat ed the Mt. Blue Cougars, 6-2, in a Class A girls’ soccer match Tuesday.

Sandy Moloney and Zarah Stinson scored the two goals for Mt. Blue.

Jessica Merchant had eight saves for the Cougars and Kelly Landry had one for Waterville.

The Purple Panthers outshot Mt. Blue, 14-11.

Morse 3, Leavitt 0

TURNER- Jenise Lucas scored two goals for the Shipbuilders in their 3-0 victory over Leavitt in a girls’ soccer game Tuesday. Martha Thomas also scored for Morse. Jardan Bell had 21 saves in the loss for the Hornets. Allison O’Bare had five for Morse. The Shipbuilders outshot the Hornets 25-9.

Traip 3, Poland 1

POLAND-Lindsey Cutts and Cassey Conner each scored a goal and earned an assist for the Rangers as Traip defeated Poland, 3-1, in a girls’ soccer game Tuesday. Misty Grant had the only goal for the Knights.

Erika Belanger made 17 saves for Poland while Ema Brake had five for the Rangers who outshot the Knights, 21-9.

Mt. Ararat 5, Oxf. Hills 0

SOUTH PARIS – Erika Stupinski blazed an open path to victory with four goals as Mt. Ararat blanked Oxford Hills 5-0 in KVAC girls’ soccer action Tuesday.

Danielle Plourde contributed to the Eagles’ (3-1) easy win with a goal as well. Stupinski padded her scoring effort with a save, while Kayla Woodhouse notched a pair and Miranda Rogers chipped in with one.

Vikings’ (2-2) goalie Mary Darcy was busy defending 19 shots.

Waynflete 2, St. Dom’s 1

PORTLAND – Lilly Hancock redirected a defended ball to the back of the net for the game-winner as Waynflete nipped St. Dom’s 2-1 in WMC girls’ soccer action Tuesday.

The Saints (3-1) put the first score on the board when Lauren Potvin converted a pass from Allison Gagnon to make it 1-0 going into the half. Kim Ostengren evened up the contest early in the second half for the Flyers (3-0).

Saints’ goalie Emily Staszak made 10 saves, while Eliza Timpson deflected five for the Flyers.

Field hockey

EL 2, Mt. Ararat 0

AUBURN-Edward Little’s Gina Gaetanni scored what would become the winning goal as Edward Little shutout Mt. Ararat 2-0 in Tuesday afternoon field hockey action.

Heather Martineau scored the Eddies’ (4-0) only other goal early in the second half.

St. Dom’s 9, Traip 1

KITTERY-Erika Dorso scored four goals and had three assists as the Saints (4-0) pound ed Traip 9-1 in field hockey Tuesday.

Elisha Dorso also pitched in with three goals for St. Dom’s. Hillary Humiston scored the only goal for the Rangers.

Amanda Curbish stopped 22 for Traip ( 0-4).

The Saints outshot the Rangers 31-2.

MCI 2, Oak Hill 1

WALES-Maine Central Institute’s Moclu Sullivan scored both goals unassisted, leading MCI to a 2-1 victory over Oak Hill Tuesday afternoon.

Sullivan’s second goal was scored with 11 seconds left in the game.

Oak Hill’s Lena Ditrich scored in the second half with help from Julie and Jill Lizotte.
