1934 – 2003

LEWISTON – Vincent A. Bateman, 69, of 75 Spring St., Lewiston, died Sunday evening, Sept. 14, at d’Youville Pavilion, following a long illness.

Born in Singapore, Southeast Asia, Jan. 4, 1934, the son of Frank A. and Alice L. (deRozario) Bateman, he had been a resident of this community since 1960.

Mr. Bateman had served as a member of the British Navy for 12 years. He was employed at Hall and Knight for over 20 years until his retirement.

He was a member of St. Joseph’s Church and a former member of the Knights of Columbus Council 106. He loved to go to the ocean, camping, traveling and fishing. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Survivors include three sisters, Teresa F. Nichols of Simpsonville, S.C., Lilian V. Gilbert of Fairfax, Va., and Agnes M. Joseph of Singapore, Southeast Asia; and several nieces, nephews and friends.

He was predeceased by two brothers.
