LEWISTON – Mildred I. Newell, 73, of Lewiston, died Sept. 14, in Lewiston.
Born March 30, 1930, Mildred Irene Clapper in St. Johnsbury, Vt.
She attended schools in St. Johnsbury, Vt., and completed her education in nursing from New Jersey. She married Glenwood Newell Sr. of Bryant Pond in 1953 he predeceased her in Aug. of 1991. She was a housewife most of her life and worked at various local factories prior to retirement.
She enjoyed dancing, was at one time an avid CB enthusiast and like attending and cheering on local sports.
She is survived by a sister, Hilda Clapper of Canton; children, John Kenneth Newell of New Jersey, Beverly Hodgdon and husband Dana Sr. of Norway, Emily Robinson of West Paris, Glenwood Newell Jr. of Sanford and Edwin Newell of Canton; a stepson, Ken Newell of Albany; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
