SOUTH CHINA – Laura Pratt scored on a penalty stroke at 9:42 of the second half to lift Leavitt to a 1-0 win over Erskine Academy in field hockey action Wednesday.

Kristin Schrepper turned back nine shots to record the shutout victory as the Hornets (3-0) notched their third win of the season.

Lisbon 2, Georges Valley 0

LISBON – Brittany Doughty notched two goals to lead Lisbon to a 2-0 win over Georges Valley in MVC field hockey action Wednesday afternoon.

Erika Merritt assisted one of Doughty’s goal, while the other was unassisted for the Greyhounds’ (3-2) win.

Kim Leadbetter made two saves for the shutout, while the Buccaneers’ (0-5) Karri Serois stopped 15 saves in net.

Soccer

Monmouth 1, Boothbay 1

BOOTHBAY HARBOR- Monmouth and Boothbay drew to a 1-1 double-overtime finish Wednesday afternoon in MVC soccer action.

Bianca Cloutier converted a pass from Kelsey Condon to score the first and only goal for the Mustangs (3-1-1) early in the first half.

Megan Wiley scored the Seahawks’ (0-4-1) lone goal off a direct kick under 10 minutes left in the game to tie it up.

Goalkeeper Jess Gray made five saves for Monmouth, while Alexa Morrison stopped seven shots in net for Boothbay.

Mt. Abram 2, Lisbon 1

LISBON – Sadie White took a pass from Liz Kankainer and found the net with just 3:27 left in the second overtime to lift Mt. Abram to a 2-1 win over Lisbon in a MVC girls’ soccer matchup.

Kankainer tallied a first-half goal for the Roadrunners (3-2), while Amanda Coburn made nine saves in net. Saige Purser tied the game for the Greyhounds (2-3) with a second-half goal. Belle Mathieu turned away eight shots in net.

Winthrop 5, Madison 0

WINTHROP – Kaitlin Dunn scored a hat trick Wednesday afternoon to propel Winthrop to a 5-0 victory over Madison in girls’ soccer action. Heather Babb and Melissa Nguyen tallied single goals for the Ramblers (5-0) to complete the scoring.

Katie Brooks need only four saves to post the win. Ashley Maranda turned away 14 shots in net for the Bulldogs (2-3).

Buckfield 7, Averill 1

HINKLEY – Elise Boutin and Chelsey Allen netted two goals apiece to pace Buckfield to a 7-1 romp over Averill in a girls’ soccer matchup.

Shayna Shackford, Tiffany Dunn and Emily Hutchinson tallied one goal each for the Bucks (2-2-1) to complete the scoring.

Ashley Dudley made four saves in net for the win. Leslie Workman put in a strong defensive effort to help keep Averill at bay. Danielle Gaven scored the lone goal for the Beavers (0-3), while Becka Timpe turned away 16 shots in net.
