BUCKFIELD – Mark Smith drilled his second goal of the game to lift Buckfield to a 4-3 win over Greater Portland Christian Academy in EWC soccer action Wednesday.
Smith deposited a crossing pass from Tyler Campbell into the lower right corner of the net just past the outstretched arms of Portland’s keeper to break a 3-all tie and give the Bucks (3-2) their third win of the season.
Jeremy Stevens turned back nine shots to record the win.
Greater Portland made a run in the second half, receiving all three of its goals from Mike Jones (two goals) and John Rudolph.
Richmond 3, Rangeley 3
RANGELEY – Double overtime proved fruitless as Richmond and Rangeley played to a 3-3 tie in boys’ EWC soccer action Wednesday.
Rangeley’s (2-1-2) Jimmy Goodwin scored the tying goal in the second half with 10 seconds remaining off a throw-in pass from Courtney Ellis. Goodwin ended the game with two goals. Trevor Grey chipped in with a goal.
Zack Brown scored a goal and recorded an assist for Richmond (2-2-1). Ben Bond and Eric Hash each added a goal, while Greg Gibbsla claimed an assist for the tie.
Steve Wullaert made 13 saves for the Bobcats, while Dustin Duchesne was strong in net with 24 saves for the Lakers.
Lewiston 0, Brunswick 0
BRUNSWICK – In an evenly matched game, Lewiston and Brunswick played to a 0-0 tie in double overtime Wednesday afternoon.
Both teams had outstanding defense. Lewiston’s (1-1-2) defense was led by Ben Fournier and Tony Travaglini. Jesse Kapland and Matt Veilleux were strong for the Brunswick (3-0-1) defense. Brian Lemonte made three saves for the Dragons, while Eric Grenier stopped 12 shots for the Blue Devils.
Hall-Dale 2, Monmouth 0
FARMINGDALE – Chase Cahill and Jon Biti tallied one goal apiece Wednesday to send Hall-Dale to a 2-0 victory over Monmouth in a MVC boys’ soccer matchup.
Biti made a cross pass from the left side to assist Cahill, then headed one into the net himself exactly three minutes later.
Ron Durost made 11 saves in net for the Bulldogs (4-0).
, while Carl Pelletier turned away eight shots for the Mustangs (3-1).
