STRATTON – The Stratton Elementary School PTC is getting ready for its annual Haunted Hayride on Saturday, Oct. 18.
The hayride will begin at 6 p.m. and run until 9 p.m. at the Cathedral Pines Campground in Eustis, four miles north of Stratton. The cost is $4, with group and family discounts available.
There will be five flatbeds to take people around to the sites. Senior citizens and the handicapped will be able to take their vehicles through the route. There will also be discounted prices for full vans of seniors and nursing home residents.
The Drop Dead Cafe will sell hot dogs, popcorn, chili and hot cocoa during the hayride.
Sites are filling up, but organizers say they are still looking for volunteers to set up haunted scenes, still or “live,” along the route. Students may set up sites, providing there is an adult chaperone present at all times. There is no cost for volunteers to assume responsibility for a site, and volunteers may enjoy the hayride free of charge. All sites have electricity and fireplaces, but firewood is not provided.
To volunteer, call Deb Buschmann at 246-2324.
