CANTON – The Canton Fire and Rescue Department will sponsor a drop-off bottle drive from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, at the Fire Station. People can drop off their empties and pick up a free cup of coffee and doughnut.
Historical society
MEXICO – The Mexico Historical Society will meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, in the Calvin Lyons meeting hall located at the back of the town hall. A covered dish supper will be served. Those attending should bring a dish. Guest speaker will be Joe Sirois, executive director of Oxford County ARC.
Tech center money
MEXICO – A public hearing regarding the River Valley Technology Center will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, at the Town Hall. The purpose is to explain a Community Development Block Grant Business Assistance Program application submitted to the state’s Department of Economic Development.
This application is for $400,000 to help build the River Valley Technology Center located in Rumford. All citizens from Rumford and Mexico are being encouraged to attend.
Free class
MEXICO – Maine Centers for Women, Work and Community is offering a free class from 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesdays, Oct. 1, 8 and 15, at the University College at Rumford/Mexico on Brown Street.
