LEWISTON – Crews are scheduled to cap the Pontiac building on Lisbon Street Tuesday with a two-and-a-half story satellite dish.

Oxford Networks will use the dish to receive video content for their planned digital television service for Lewiston and Auburn.

The Simulsat 5 antenna measures 28 feet across and is scheduled to be lifted into place by a crane Tuesday afternoon. When it’s up and running, the dish will be able to receive signals from 35 satellites simultaneously.

The satellite dish is part of the company’s $15-20 million fiber optic investment in downtown Lewiston and Auburn.

The company hopes to provide digital cable television and Internet services to the Twin Cities by the end of the year.

Oxford Networks is building its Lewiston headquarters on Lisbon Street just southeast of the Pontiac building.
