FARMINGTON – Selectmen are expected to consider installing a roof over the rear entrance to the Municipal Building when they meet Tuesday.

Town Manager Richard Davis said he’ll discuss using some money from the municipal building improvement account in conjunction with a safety enhancement grant application for the roof.

The Maine Municipal Association’s grant could pay up to $2,000 of the estimated $4,000 project, if selectmen approve it and the grant is awarded to the town, Davis said.

It would be a slanted roof over the rear door and walkway, he said.

During the winter, the walkway becomes dangerous, he said, when ice forms on the walkway.

Also on the 6:30 p.m. agenda for the Tuesday meeting at the Municipal Building are the considerations of a request for a streetlight on North Street, discussion of options for disposal of junk cars and approval of the application for the Snowmobile Trail Fund Grant-In-Aid program.
