1937 – 2003
HAMPDEN – Larry W. Chase, 65, died Sept. 19, at his residence after a short battle with cancer.
He was born Nov. 23, 1937, in Lewiston.
He attended and graduated from Lewiston High School. Upon graduation he joined the U.S. Air Force serving until 1962 as an air-traffic controller. He began his career with the FAA in 1963. He started at the Houlton Flight Service and was transferred to the Bangor International Airport in 1968 as an air-traffic controller and was employed with them until 1994 when he retired as a supervisor.
He spent some of his free time after retiring at the M.T.A one day a week where he enjoyed helping people and giving out information. He was an avid bowler for more than 35 years and enjoyed traveling throughout the state.
He is survived by his wife, Jean (London) Chase of Hampden, with whom he shared 38 years of marriage; his daughter, Debbie Chase of Glenburn and her fiancé, Dwight Whitmore; his son, Derek and wife, Jennifer of Portland; brother, Edward Hinkley and wife, Gaye of Poland Spring; sisters, Linda Bartolec and Eileen Belleau both of Lewiston; several very special brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews, whom he loved very much; and several grandcats.
He was predeceased by his parents.
