PERU – Cathy McDonald told selectmen Monday night that road drainage is so bad that water comes onto her Main Street property from everywhere.

Road Commissioner David Gammon put a load of rocks on the edge of the road last year and they have washed into her neighbor’s yard, she said.

Selectman Jim Pulsifer advised there would be a meeting with Gammon about the situation.

School Superintendent John Turner advised selectmen that negotiations with SAD 21 on a possible merger are under way. He said voters will be asked to approve the conditions of a merger should one occur.

He predicted the Peru school system will eventually merge with a surrounding district because the state will no longer build schools for less than 250 students.

Peru operates an elementary school and sends its high school students to other systems.

In other business, selectmen signed an application for a grant that Joe Kerr requested for the Snowmobile Club, a building permit for David Davis.

In an update on the comprehensive plan development, Bill Hines said 1,540 surveys were sent out and 240 have been returned. The Planning Committee will meet with John Maloney of Androscoggin Valley Council of Governments on Thursday night.
