BRIDGTON – Bridgton Academy alumni traditionally gather the Tuesday after Labor Day for a picnic on the shore of Crystal Lake in Harrison. Begun in 1983 by Celia Tarbox Ballard, ’30, the alumni celebrated the 20th year of this event on Sept. 2.
Thirty-six local alumni and friends of Bridgton Academy attended. Attending from Harrison were: Celia Tarbox Ballard ’30; Barbara Lord Dalgaard ’48, Madelyn Buck ’37, Orpha Sias Davis ’21, Richard Davis ’47, Margaret Buck Caswell ’44, and Edward Martin ’39.
North Bridgton: Elaine Fabella ’99 and Marguerite Frisbie Dale ’47.
Bridgton: Martha Flint ’52.
Naples: Edward Webber ’32, Ruth Pitts ’32, Mary Pitts Bennett ’34 and Marion Flint Brooks ’57.
Waterford: Elizabeth Millette Maxfield ’30, Virginia Gammon Knight ’49, Gordon Knight ’48, Virginia Tyler Cutler ’35, Happy Hamlin Chapman ’48, Joann Bean Fillebrown ’48 and David Marston ’53.
Others in attendance were George Hamlin ’43, Rumford; Ruby Chapman Whitney ’34, Casco; and Paul Flahive ’60, Manhattan Beach, Calif.
Also attending from Bridgton Academy were Headmaster David Hursty, Cyndy Hursty, director of alumni and development; and Matt Burgess ’88, assistant director of alumni and development.
Alumni and guests enjoyed visiting with each other over lunch and the festivities were concluded with group singing the Bridgton Academy song, “Black and Gray Forever,” led by Madelyn Buck.
