1947 – 2003
LEWISTON – Andre W. Goudreau, 56, of 22 Montello St., Lewiston, died Tuesday, Sept. 23, at the Central Maine Medical Center, following a brief illness.
Born in Stanstead, P.Q., Canada, on July 15, 1947, he was the son of Maurice and Rita Drouin Goudreau. Educated in Vermont schools, he was a graduate of Hardwick Academy. He joined the Army, and after his honorable discharge in 1970, he went to work for the Aubuchon Hardware chain of stores as a manager, first in Hardwick, Vt., transferred to Northumberland, N.H., and moving to the local area as regional supervisor in 1975.
On May 29, 1978, he married the former Judith Bedell in Ss. Peter & Paul Church. A “workaholic”, he loved his job, and took great pride in the growth and success of the Aubuchon stores he guided during his 29 years as regional supervisor.
This sense of pride and his work ethic carried over to his personal life, and his brothers credit him with keeping the family together following the deaths of their mother and father. He loved family gatherings, and enjoyed cooking elaborate meals for his loved ones. He will be remembered as a straight shooter, no-nonsense kind of man.
He is survived by his wife of Lewiston; a daughter, Angela Goudreau of Lewiston; four brothers, Robert and wife Anne of Richmond, Vt., Raymond and wife Martha of Winooski, Vt., Jacques and wife Doreen of Portland, and Marc and wife Caroline of Huntington, Vt.; and several nieces and nephews.
