Jeff Beck punches in the game winning goal for the Beavers.

BANGOR – Jeff Beck scored the lone goal at the mid-p int of the field off a pass from Zack Pettit to lift UMF to a 1-0 win over Husson in men’s soccer action Wednesday.

Matt Goodman gave a great effort in goal for Husson, making 13 saves on 28 shots, while UMF goalie Noah Peet had five saves on 18 shots.

Colby 6, UNE 0

WATERVILLE – Daniel Kiernan, Bobby Abrendroth and Chris Rogers each had two goals for the White Mules as they rolled over the University of New England, 6-0, in a non-conference match Wednesday.

Colby coach Mark Serdjenin collected 200th win.

Field hockey

USM 6, Salem State 0

GORHAM – Deedra Boudreau and Ashley Woodcock each netted a goal and recorded an assist as the University of Southern Maine sailed past Salem State 6-0 in field hockey action Wednesday.

Kayla Vaughan, Renee Neath, Jen Mason, and Rachel Nimon each chipped in with a goal for the Huskies’ (5-2, 2-0) win as well.

Jessie Superchi turned aside six shots to preserve the shutout, while the Vikings’ (0-5, 0-1) Meaghan Oskiro registered 28 saves.

Merrimack 3, St. Joe’s 0

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Kristen Belair scored a goal and added an assist to lead Merrimack College to a 3-0 win over St. Joe’s in non-conference field hockey action Wednesday.

Belair connected on a long pass from Katie Powell and directed it to the back of the net for the game-winning shot. Sara Joyce turned back five shots to record the shutout.

Women’s soccer

Bates 6, USM 0

LEWISTON – Kim Alexander, Jenna Benson and Catherine Crosby scored two goals apiece to power Bates to a 6-0 win over the University of Southern Maine in women’s soccer action Wednesday afternoon.

Alexander scored the game-winning goal for the Bobcats (3-0-2) 30 minutes into the game as she converted a feed from Meg Coffin on a scramble in front of the net.

Lynne Antinarelli needed only one save to record the shutout.

Husson 1, UMF 0

FARMINGTON – Deidre Ham scored with 58 seconds left in double overtime to lead Husson to a hard-fought 1-0 win over the University of Maine at Farmington in the NAC conference Wednesday afternoon.

Leah Drew registered the shutout for Husson with six saves. Patty Boutin had eight saves for UMF.
