1919 – 2003
SHAWMUT – Marjorie Gregg Swiontkowski, 84, died Wednesday, Sept. 24, at the home of her son, Kenneth and his fiancé, Virginia Palmer, after a brief battle with cancer. She was the daughter of John and Rose Gregg.
She was born in Tulsa County, Okla., on July 1, 1919. She married Edward Swiontkowski on March 11, 1954.
She and Ski made their home in Baltimore, Md., for the first years of their life together until they moved to Kentucky, where they both succeeded in the Insurance Business. They later moved to Maine, where they had been spending vacations on Eustis Ridge for many years. They retired to their home in New Vineyard where their doors were always open to their many friends.
She was truly a unique and intelligent individual who was loved by all who knew her. She was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. She was a talented artist, poet, writer, upholsterer and cook.
She entertained her friends and family with her guitar and singing talent at her home and at the many “picking parties” she attended and was always the life of the party. She loved hunting and fishing and did so up until the last couple of years of her life.
She also played a mean game of poker as her fellow players could attest to. She was an avid CNN viewer and kept abreast of the world news every day. Her sense of humor overcame the many hardships that she faced during her lifetime and it continued throughout the last days of her life.
She is survived by Ski, her husband and soul mate of 52 years; her son, Kenneth and his fiancé, Ginny; her granddaughter, Jessi Swiontkowski; great-granddaughter, Molly Rossi-Boyle; and her many friends, especially Sher and Roy, Anita, Jo, Patrick, Church, Maxine, Bill, Brad and many more who hung with her through the end.
