AUBURN – Edward Little High School is hosting “Fill the Field Night” Friday at Walton Field in New Auburn. The event coincides with the ELHS-Brunswick football game. All ELHS students presenting a student ID will pay $1 admission. Also, any other students in any grade wearing their athletic jersey from any sport will pay only $1. The game kicks off at 7 p.m.
XC meets slated
TOPSHAM – The Maine USA Track and Field Fall Cross Country Program begins Sunday, October 5 at Mt. Ararat High School. It is the first of six preliminary meets to be held at various sites around the state. Entry fee is $2 and USA Track and Field registration ($12) is required and available at all the meets. Registration begins at 12:30 p.m. Course walks start at 1:00, with the first race at 2:00. The age divisions are: 8-under, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-16, 17-18, 19-29, and 30 and over at 5-year intervals.

Other area preliminary meets are: Oct. 12, Twin Brook Recreation Area, Cumberland (Neal Crosson, 829-6262); Oct. 26, University of Maine-Augusta (Marty Thornton, 623-3682); Nov. 2, Pineland Farms, Pownal (Ron Kelly, 883-2747); Nov. 9, UMA.
State championship meet will be held Sunday, Nov. 15 at UMA.

Road race planned
BETHEL – The 16th annual Summit Challenge is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 12 at 10 a.m. The road race begins at the South Ridge base area and continues three miles to the top of Barker Peak. Registration runs from 8-9:45 a.m. Entry fee is $8, the proceeds benefiting the Telstar Track Club.
The race is part of the Sunday River Fall Festival, which also includes the Blue Mountain Art Fair, Wife-Carrying Contest and All-Star Aerial Show. More information can be obtained by calling 875-2009.
Lewiston Elks pool
LEWISTON – The team of Dan Asselin-Ray Pinette took top honors in the Wednesday night Lewiston Elks Pool League. Second was the team of Reggie Poussard-Ray Rancourt, followed by Mike Fortier-Bob Bolduc.
