1930 – 2003
FARMINGTON – Harold A. Lovejoy, 72, of Freeman, died on Friday, Sept. 26, at Franklin Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Kingfield on Oct. 4, 1930, the son of Gerald E. and Edna (Moore) Lovejoy. He was a graduate of Kingfield High School, Class of 1949.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, stationed in Korea.
He was employed as a lumberman for local contractors for many years, he worked for the town of Kingfield for the highway department in their maintenance department for 15 years, he worked for H.G. Winter & Sons Mill as a boiler operator, retiring in 1996.
He was an avid outdoorsman, hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed country music, sports and watching football and baseball, especially the Red Sox.
He is survived by his lifelong friend and companion for 35 years, Maxine L. Babb of Freeman; a son, Larry Lovejoy and wife Dorothy of Brockton, Mass.; a sister, Joyce Wilcox and husband Roland of Phillips; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a stepdaughter, Audrey Witherell Kendall of Gardiner.
He was predeceased by a son, Gary Arsenault.
