1922 – 2003

LISBON – Thomas Matthew Douglas Jr., 80, of Ferry Road, Lisbon, died Friday, Sept. 26, surrounded by his family.

He was born Columbia, S.C., on Nov. 19, 1922, the son of Thomas Sr. and Wilma (Andrews) Douglas. He was educated in the Columbia school system and later joined the U.S. Navy where he served his country during World War II stationed at the Brunswick Naval Air Station.

Mr. Douglas was employed by Hahnel Bros. as a sheet metal worker until his retirement in 1982. He was a charter member of The American Legion Post 158, he was also a life member of the VFW Post 9459, the Slovak Catholic Asso., and past president and lifetime member of The Lisbon Left Hand Club.

“Tom” had a great love of hunting and fishing and a former member of the biggest buck in Maine club. He spent all his time this past season trying to get the big one at Beaver Park where a memorial will be placed in his honor next spring. He also took great pride with his successful hunt two years ago when he bagged his first wild turkey. He will long be remembered for his fried chicken and beef jerky.

He is survived by his devoted companion, Linda Vigil of 18 years; his daughters, Gail Marcouillier, and husband Armand (Frenchy), Joann Lincoln and husband Ray, Carol Harding and husband Brian, and Marsha Labbe and fiance Gary Rice; his grandchildren, Denise and Timothy Card, Christopher Harding, and Jeffrey David; great-grandchildren, Chase and Ashley Card-Burns, Harriet B. Card-Willard, Dylan Card-Whittaker, Dayton Harding, and Reanna Clara Harding; he was also known as ” Grampy Tom ” to Michael and Cheryl Vigil, Mindy Powers, and Sarah-Jo; his nephew, Terrell Douglas and “Sis” Audrey Wilson.

He was predeceased by his brother, James Walter “Red” Douglas.
