RUMFORD – Physical therapists Alan Mitchell and Sarah Shannon have joined the Rehabilitation Department at Rumford Hospital.

Mitchell, who grew up and lives in Jay, earned his master’s degree in physical therapy from Husson College, where he also earned a bachelor’s degree in health science. As a student physical therapist, he gained clinical experience in outpatient orthopedic clinics, a hospital, nursing home, home health agency and a high school.

Although he treats a wide range of medical problems, he is particular interested in sports related therapy.

Shannon, an Andover native and graduate of Telstar Regional High School in Bethel, earned her master’s degree in physical therapy from Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Conn.

She received her bachelor’s degree magna cum laude from the same school.

While a student, she had clinical experience in acute care, outpatient orthopedics, cardiopulmonary and neuro-rehabilitation.

Shannon particularly likes treating lymphedema and is pursuing special training in that field.
