RUMFORD – Walkers in the annual Alzheimer’s Memory Walk to benefit the Maine Alzheimer’s Association will stride off from Rumford Community Home at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4. Registration begins at 8 a.m. The options include two routes, a short one-mile walk and a 3.5 mile jaunt.
Every dollar raised from the annual Memory Walk in Rumford stays right in the community. Since its start in 1989 the walk has raised $120 million for communities nationally.
Walkers register by mailing a form to the Maine Alzheimer’s Association or online at www.mainealz.org/memorywalk. On walk day, walkers bring their completed fund-raising forms and the money they have raised to Rumford Community Home. Walkers who raise $50 by walk day earn a Memory Walk pin; $150 earns a Memory Walk T-shirt and $250 a long-sleeved T-shirt; $350 walkers earn a Memory Walk sweatshirt; and $550 fund-raisers receive a Memory Walk portfolio or fleece pullover.
