FARMINGTON – The University of Maine at Farmington Archaeology Research Center will join in statewide activities and events next month to celebrate and explore Maine’s past.

A dig on the Sandy River will be held Friday and Saturday, Oct. 3 and 4. The public is invited to join the dig. For more information and to sign up contact Rosemary Cyr at 778-7012 or e-mail racyr@maine.edu

The Archaeology Lab open house tour will be offered from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26, and from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26, at the laboratory located at 139 Quebec St. There will be poster displays, artifacts and a presentation about current research.

The annual fall meeting of the Maine Archaeology Society will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26, at Roberts Learning Center on the campus of UMF. Presentations on recent work at the Ntolonapemk site on Meddybemps Lake and Sebago Lake will be given. The meeting is free and open to the public.
