1903 – 2003
LEWISTON – Anita Poirier, 100, formerly of 10 Second St., Auburn, died Monday, Sept. 29, at Ste Marguerite d’Youville Pavilion where she had been a resident since May of 1999. She had resided with her daughter, Henrietta and son-in-law, Richard LeBlond, at 526 Minot Ave. for 13 years, prior to entering d’Youville.
Mrs. Poirier was born in Auburn, June 15, 1903, the daughter of Joseph and Emilia (Trottier) Verville.
She was the widow of Henri Poirier, who died in February of 1966.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her family. Her sense of humor was enjoyed by all who knew her. She will be greatly missed by family and many friends.
She was a lifetime member of St. Louis Ladies of St. Anne Sodality, New Auburn Senior Citizens, Les Marchandes de Bonheur for 50 years, Covenant 50 & Horizon 55. Some of her favorite hobbies were playing bingo and knitting and crocheting articles, which she would then donate to charitable organizations.
Survivors include a daughter, Henrietta LeBlond and husband, Richard of Auburn; a son, Bertrand Poirier and his wife, Lorraine of Auburn; a granddaughter, Linda Fuegen and her husband, Larry of Prescott, Ariz.; a great-granddaughter, Stacy Fuegen of Los Feliz, Calif.; a great-grandson, Brad Fuegen of Altoona, Pa.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by four sisters and a brother.
